Red Old Man
Here comes the cold
But there's no snow falling
December 25
Just another ordinary day
No surprise on that day, just any day, any day
One smiling couple walking, holding hands giggling
While no red man came, gifts made their way
They were showered with love
While they lay on the bay
Showered with love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, was all around
Not very much do I know about it
I kept all my secrets inside of my own
I'm always out on my own
I've never met anyone who without fee
Would let me sit on his lap for free
But what I wish for is love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love all around me
When was the last time I've nailed my socks on a wall
And said, "Oh yes James, there is a Santa Claus"
I came waiting for all night, hiding on a couch
Instead I saw my mom bringing all these bags
The presents of toys crammed together
The presents of toys crammed together
So I'm told, that's how that story goes
The Red Old Man I know
Is just me dreaming
Lovers and partners
Children and dreamers
Singers and poets
All soul searchers
Like you and me
Like you and me
Rumors existed that he is real
For his deviations taken into custody
By the authorities, less informed than me.
Lovers and dreamers, all soul searchers
Searching for love, love, love
Love, love, love
Love, love, was all around
Preparations were made
For the celebration day
Mom said, "Let's eat now and open gifts later."
Let's drink this now and sing merrily
We sing and dance to the tune of it
We sing and dance to the tune of it
We sing and dance to the tune of it
Red old man up above,
Why in all this sadness do you fill me with love, love, love?
Love, love, love
Love, love, love is all around me
Why in all this sadness do you fill me with love, love, love?
Love, love, love
Love, love, love is all around me

*points up* Kit got it all. Darn her...
Ok, well this was really good. I couldn't really understand what it was talking about though...first you were talking about Santa, then how he is real *wink* NOT
Well, there isn't really much to say. This was good, but not one of the best. Keep them coming and I'll keep reading!

Well, probably one the better lot of Christmas lyrics this year. Moments of ranting, keep your focus tight.
If it were me, I'd make some sort of a reference to red being a colour associated with prostitutes. But I like this line, this is where your rhyming works best.
Awesome lyric. That has real guts to it. I'm proud of your visceral vision.
Oh God, your concept your beautiful beautiful concept, melting, oh what a world. You had this lovely gritty cynicism, you could have had all kinds of social commentary, or even made some sort of allusion to censorship in the media, if you were stuck on the parents lying about Santa thing, about people lying to us to protect us, but inevitably lead us to greater pain. But then you come to this line, and this just sounds whiny, petty. And 'mom', why 'mom'? You're Australian.
That's a nice line though.
That bit's good too.
